FamilySync

Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 2026
FamilySync is built around trust. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we keep it safe. We've written it to be clear and easy to read โ€” not buried in legal language.

This policy applies to UK users and is written in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Data Controller: FamilySync is the data controller responsible for your personal information. If you have any questions about how your data is handled, contact us at support@familysync.co

1 Information We Collect
FamilySync collects information you choose to provide, including your name and email address, and information you add to your family space. This may include family member details and content you create in the app such as calendars, tasks, bills, notices, childcare details, birthdays, and parties.

We may also collect limited technical information needed to operate the service, such as app version, device type, and operating system.
2 How We Use Your Information
We use your information to provide and operate FamilySync features, keep your family in sync across devices, maintain security and reliability, and improve performance and stability.

FamilySync does not sell personal information and does not use your data for advertising.
3 Lawful Basis for Processing
Under UK GDPR, we process your data on the following lawful bases:

Contract performance โ€” processing is necessary to provide the FamilySync service you have signed up for.

Legitimate interests โ€” we may process limited technical data to maintain security, reliability, and improve the app, where this does not override your rights.

Legal obligation โ€” where we are required to retain or process data to comply with applicable law.
4 Data Storage and Security
FamilySync stores data securely using Supabase infrastructure. We use industry-standard security practices, including encryption in transit and at rest, to protect your information.

Supabase infrastructure may process data outside the United Kingdom. Where this occurs, appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with UK GDPR requirements for international data transfers.

No system can guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable and appropriate measures to safeguard your data.
5 Family Data Visibility
FamilySync is built around shared family spaces. Information added to a family is visible to members of that family. Family admins have additional permissions to manage settings, roles, and membership.

You should only invite people you trust into your family.
6 Data Synchronisation
FamilySync syncs your data when an internet connection is available so your family stays up to date across devices. Some features may be limited when offline.
7 Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide the service. You can edit or remove content you have added, leave a family, or delete your account where available.

On account deletion, your personal data will be removed from our systems within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is required by law.

Exporting data is not currently supported but is planned for a future update.
8 Children's Information
FamilySync is designed for family use and is intended for adults. Information about children is added by adults within a family and is visible only to invited family members. FamilySync does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.
9 Your Rights Under UK GDPR
As a UK user, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
  • Right of access โ€” you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification โ€” you can ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Right to erasure โ€” you can request that we delete your personal data in certain circumstances.
  • Right to restrict processing โ€” you can ask us to limit how we use your data.
  • Right to data portability โ€” you can request your data in a structured, machine-readable format where applicable.
  • Right to object โ€” you can object to processing based on legitimate interests.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@familysync.co. We will respond within one month as required by UK GDPR.

If you are not satisfied with how we handle your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator.
